We're back at it, after our one week break for gardening and goofing off.
Notice the rectangular table is finally here. The chairs which go with the table are not. They're still holidaying in the garage, dressed in their blue finery.
This is a bit of a distracting location - we have bird feeders hanging near the window and if you look closely at the table, you'll see a copy of the Birds of Coastal British Columbia lying face down by my mug. Amelia saw a Western Tanager for the first time and we were just verifying it.
You may also notice the wall. Perhaps not as famous as the Great Wall of China, the Berlin Wall, or the wildly controversial wall in Jerusalem, but the Indefatigable Wall of Homeschooling is often indispensable. Quickly erected, made of corrugated cardboard magazine files (which conveniently hold the pupils' various subject materials), it is just as easily dismantled when schoolwork is finished. Highly recommended for children who would otherwise spend the entire time making faces at each other, throwing pencils, or moaning 'he's looking at me'. The kids are getting taller though so soon I might have to resort to those library study carrols - which, have you ever noticed, are really good preparation for spending your life in an office cubicle.

My first thought when the image popped up was "How do they ever do school with the treetops right there?" Is it as beautiful as it looks in the picture? I, too, would be distracted by the birds.
Looking up birds in a bird book counts as science, doesn't it?
