Before - dull peach. Poorly painted with previous color bleeding through in numerous places. Yawn. I moved a bunch of stuff out but at the end, just squished what was left together & draped it with plastic.

The decorator (Amelia in this case) has chosen - YOWZA! Not dull. Definitely not dull.

Cutting in. No goofing around with painters tape. Just use a great brush and don't drink too much caffeine. Works fine around windows, doors and ceilings, but the bottom edge almost killed me. There are no baseboards in this house and painting up against carpet is a drag.

First coat done.

Don't be seduced by the lure of 'one coat'. Paint promises it. Rollers promise it. They lie. For a luscious, deep, true color, the kind you want to lick, you must put on two coats. And yes, you must cut in the second time too (but you can be a bit more sloppy)
Paint done!

Look closely and you'll see a girl's head, a black cat, the black cat's dry food (because if it's left in the kitchen, the dog eats it), the feather beds the girl sleeps on, the down quilt she sleeps under, and the book which she stayed up waaay too late reading - which is why she's still in bed when I'm taking the photo.
Still to come - a nightstand, the rest of the furniture, something for the windows and as Amelia says 'the finishing touches'. She's planning accents in shades of deep, rich red.
And.... maybe ripping off the carpet eventually. We discovered there's hardwood under there, but only in the bedrooms. The hall doesn't have it & neither does the living room (though the kitchen/eating area does - see yesterday's pic)

*funny. When blogger posted up the photos, the image quality is obviously reduced. The walls look all smeary & almost textured in the photos but they're not in real life. Ah well. You get the idea.

Beautiful! You did a professional job!
Wow, great painting job! I came by to say thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment on my homeschooling post. To be honest, my husband and I often wonder if homeschoolers are trying to "indoctrinate" their children into a more narrow-minded, conservative, religion-based education than they would get at private school. But what I have learned from the comments on my post is that people home school for all kinds of reasons, in fact only one commenter has mentioned religion at all. This has been quite an eye and mind-opening experience for me. Thanks for sharing your family's story.
What a yummy color! It really is honeydew green. I would not have had the nerve to go with such a rich color, but it looks fabulous!
I think one of the joys of homeschooling is that you Can stay up too late with a good book, and then make up the sleep in the morning.
Cordially,
Melora
GORGEOUS! What a wonderful job!
