He's back. And he's angry.

I have to be quick. I found the box where I had packed Rex, and boy, is he ticked. He doesn’t think being packed for almost 3 weeks was a good thing. He was stuck in the box with my manuscript - the unfinished manuscript, which requires some changes before the first 50pp can be sent of to New York (as requested by an editor!), and which also requires some more stuff in the middle, and a big end. Rex is not amused.

There are going to be changes. There’s a new schedule. Rex doesn’t really like the blog. He says that I shouldn’t be writing anything except things which I plan to send to an editor. I got lippy and asked ‘what about my shopping lists? Am I allowed to make those?’ He just stared at me.

Writing Week Challenge is on right now. It’s put on by my local RWA chapter. We send in our goals for the week and check in once a day to say how we’re doing on meeting our day goals. The co-ordinator collates all the msgs and sends out an update each day. It’s inspiring, motivating, and it has helped me get me back bicfok (butt in chair, fingers on keyboard). Unfortunately, my brain has been refusing to join us. I think I may have suffered some damage from sniffing the organic paint remover stuff….

I found the boxes with the school materials and started loading some bookshelves. Hugo practiced some reading aloud, while Amelia did copywork. I’m easing us back into things slowly but it’s nice to be back at it. They’re most keen to go back to history and geography. Hugo finished his Singapore Math book just before we moved, so I need to pick up the next level. Am I a bad hs mommy if I’m not sure which level he is on? I think he just finished 1A but I’ll have to check and make sure before I go to the store….

I’m saving money by not having to buy Amelia a math book because Amelia hates math. Argh. Somewhere along the way, she lost her grip on the subject and now it’s a constant struggle because either things are ‘too easy! This is baby stuff! I’m not doing baby stuff!’ or ‘I don’t get this! They don’t explain it! This is too hard. Nobody can understand this!’ I’m handling it by ditching math for now, and hoping it’s a maturity/developmental issue.

Avoidance – the undervalued coping strategy.

That’s how I’m dealing with the blue/green monster furniture in the garage too. Maybe someone will steal them if I leave them there long enough. Maybe if I put enough strong chemicals on them and just leave them, they’ll simply dissolve.

Oh, are you sure Amelia is not my dd Mikaela?? Hopefully Amelia decides to get back on track with her math before she is facing remedial math in college! ;)
