What's making us laugh

I know a woman who signs her posts on e-mail lists with this:
"People are weird. There are not exceptions."

It's true. And I admit weirdness. Witness this. We don't allow our kids to watch regular television. Recently, Amelia was at a dentist's office and there was a TV you could watch while having your teeth cleaned. I had to teach her how to use the remote. (She told me later she watched Much Music. She only knew that was the name of the channel because they kept repeating it over and over again.)

My kids have also never been to a movie theater (they have however been to live theatre, ballet and the symphony).

Movies?
Harry Potter. No.
Finding Nemo. No.
Toy Story. No.
Monsters Inc. No.
Lilo and Stitch. No.

And many many more No's.

I am not sure if they know who Bugs Bunny is but they've watched the Elegant Universe 5 times.

And they've been watching something rip-roaringly funny, courtesy of www.zip.ca.

Father Ted and the Vicar of Dibley.

Here we have British sitcoms, one with Catholic priests and the other with a female Anglican priest. We have lots of irreverence, profanity, alcohol, and sexual innuendo. And we're OK with all that. Well, because we're weird.

I applaud your efforts at keeping your kids from TV and other mainstream garbage! I have always wished I could turn off our TV for good, but I would have mutiny on my hands. (from my hubby of course!)
And I love those British comedies- sexual innuendo and all!

Vicar of Dibley [snort]

We didn't have that video series, but we did have AbFab. Kids were teens by then.

Your kids must be a hoot!

I have just discovered The Vicar of Dibley. It's become the happiest part of my Sunday night!
