Doggy play date

Over the Christmas holidays I was talking to someone who said she's glad she doesn't have big dogs because you have to walk them! Even in the rain!!!!

Er. Right. It's perhaps not a surprise that we didn't bond instantly.

My friends come out on perfectly miserable days for doggie play dates. One even drives an insane distance and has to explain to the border dude that yes, she's really here because her dog wants to play with our dogs. Yes, even on really wet rainy days.

I was the only one who brought a camera - most likely because I own the cheapest camera & don't particularly worry about getting it wet or falling in the mud with it. Alas, I'm the worst photographer of the group so what follows is not going to win any awards. It will, however, show the world the wonder of living in Vancouver in January. Look! Grass! It's green! Yeah, yeah, we're soaking wet. But we have green grass!

We spent two hours out there; the dogs had a blast, we plodded through mud, and I squealed like a girl when I saw a mouse - not because I was scared of the mouse but because I really didn't want to see a dog eating the mouse. It appeared to be a particularly dimwitted mouse because it was running in and out of the puddles by my feet over and over again. Fortunately, the dogs were otherwise occupied and the mouse lived another day.

There was an eagle flying overhead at the park and when I got home & was unloading all the wet and muddy towels out of the cars, I saw four Canada geese flying overhead. Spring is around the corner in our little corner of the world.

This was cute, thanks for sharing the photos. I would love to have a dog but it's not a responsibility I can take on at this point. Instead, I enjoy having vicarious dog-owning experiences by reading your blog!

I still can't get over how beautiful & healthy Daisy looks compared to the photos you posted when you first got her.

Oh, you were at the seasonal off-leash at CVP! I've posted about that a few times:)
I don't mind walking in the rain if I'm dressed for it, and if we didn't go out in it in this part of the world, well, we'd get cabin fever, especially this January. But have you seen our forecast for the next six days, doesn't it look wonderful?
And by the way, the pictures were great:)

The border guards were much more understanding on the way back :) We had a great time and I actually thoroughly enjoy the drive. I only wish we lived closer as PB just adores all of you and the critters so much. Next, two white balls of fluff hopefully!

It's a fact of life living on this wet west coast for canines and their people. Rainy days are STILL good walking days!

The drizzly rainy wet days are just as enjoyable as the snowuptothe knees and the sunshiny walks!

And please, pretty please tell me where your walk was that day!

It was a great time! Zyra let me drive home 'cause, (1) she can't reach the pedals in the truck, and, (2) she napped all the way home.

A big thank you to Hornblower's mom for bringing us treaties again!

Fingers crossed, WL, sure would love to see 2 white balls of fluff on our next date. That PB, I swear he gets more handsome every time I see him.

Looks like a wonderful place to gather for a morning romp.

I will admit that I hate taking the dogs out in yucky weather. However, I hate having my house destroyed even more, so I suck it up.

(This is Raegan with Gatsby from PostiveGundogs and I think TrainingLevels? One of those clicker training lists, they're all starting to run together in my mind)

Vicki - it IS a big time suck to keep animals well. (just like kids and spouses and work etc are all time intensive if you want to do it right LOL) But just like those other things, it's also so rewarding!

Glad you can get your doggy fix here. Daisy says "thank you! I am the most pretty dog now!" She is definitely a vain dog. She actually prances when she's showing off.

Karen - one of these days we'll meet there. Luna can snark at us so long as you'll let Daisy snark back. Daisy snarks for only a bit & then wants to PLAY!

Hunde Haus has been enlightened privately ;-). I'm trying to keep the park semi-secret as it's one of the few places we can take our snarky, 'not suitable for dog park' dogs.

WL - Fingers crossed for Hope!

Vicky - thanks for stopping by. Still can't get over you sad face Wordless Wed post!

Raegan - I know, all the clicker lists turn into one after a while. Though only on one can you expect to discuss guns LOL

Mom - thanks for the pastries! Glad to see you making sure that all our outings are calorie neutral & we don't actually burn any fat off :-)
