Yay! I got my first ebay yarn purchase today. This is Lace Wing Sock from Fly Dyed & it's 100% washable merino, hand dyed in the Roses colorway. It is destined to be Amelia's socks. The ebay seller is angoravalley & it was a pleasure to deal with them.
This may well be the beginnings of a bad thing. I've seen what can happen. So this may not be the right time to mention that I'm still waiting for yet another yarn purchase: some Rowan Kidsilk Haze which will be the Branching Out lace scarf from knitty. This online yarn buying thing might be as bad as the online book buying thing......
This delicious yarn & the anticipation of knitting it up is almost making up for the hassle of dealing with some anal neighbours. I think it's a tempest in a teapot but it's one that's requiring the writing of letters (& subsequent editing to take out all the juicy insulting bits).
The only other sad thing in my life is that the Yarn Harlot will be in Vancouver tomorrow & I won't be able to meet her. I can't believe it. I was sure we were destined to meet.
She's funny. I'm funny.
She's an LC. I'm an LC.
She knits beautifully. I knit - sort of.
She published a book. I can't even finish my first draft.
She's on a book tour. She's living my life, dammit!
Maybe it's a good thing that Roo scheduled the office summer party on the one day she's here. It's possible I'd stab her with an Addi Turbo in a fit of insane jealousy. So instead of listening to Stephanie go on and on about knitting, I'll be having a blast at SplashDown Park. It's a brilliant place to have an office party for all the staff & families because you don't have to talk to anyone very long. Come, say hello, and go slide like a maniac. Come back for some food & chit chat, and disappear again. That's about as much polite conversation as I can handle. Give me water and freedom to yell like a banshee, and I'm a happy woman.
