Getting back to routines

I am just not a 'by the seat of my pants' person. Newton's first law of motion is far too entrenched here. A body at rest tends to stay at rest. We just laze around getting grumpy unless we actually plan to do things. Even all those fun things that the kids are eager to do (like baking and art) don't happen unless I plan them and put them on the schedule. So it's a relief for us to have our regular activities resuming after the spring break. They help to shape our week.

Yesterday, gymnastics resumed. It's a weekly class after lunch. I generally schedule classes and other outings for after lunch, leaving the morning to work on schoolwork.

Today we planned an 'at home' day. At the moment, the kids are listening to an audio book of Enid Blyton's The Famous Five Story Collection (ISBN 1-84032-580-1). It's a dramatised version and they're enthralled. These books are all new to us. It's always great to find books we all enjoy. The Famous Five stories remind me a bit of the Swallows and Amazons books.

In the afternoon, the kids want to make crepes. We'll go for a walk first, partly because we'll need some fresh air, and also because H is adamant that he needs whipped cream in his crepes; we'll walk to the store to get some.
