Happy Halloween!

This year we made a very scary pumpkin.
I say WE, but it was the kind of WE where I come up with a brilliant idea & then leave Roo to worry about the rest. I'm the make it so part of the WE. So, my idea. Roo's work.

Yes, there, in the middle: it's the HST pumpkin.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

See how even the other pumpkins are scared?!!!

The HST, for those not in our lands, is the harmonized sales tax, an evil, terrible scourge, brought on by unscrupulous politicians who deny they're planning to implement it right through an election campaign, and then, once elected, spring it on the people.

Nasty stuff.

Roo stuck a stake through its meager, pathetic, um, what? Not heart because it doesn't have one.... see how it's an empty shell? Kind of like some politicians? Man, that's some symbolism. Anyway, he drove a stake through it. So there! Take that, Gordo! (oh, & the stake? That was totally Roo's idea. And a good one too because as he pointed out, otherwise people might have thought I was actually championing the cause. Horror!)

Amelia & I were the only ones who dressed up. Amelia as a witch to give out candy to the sweet little munchkins & to charmingly laugh the whole evening over how "yes, the HST pumpkin is SO great!" with all the parents who were chortling about it.

Me, I dressed up as the cranky fairy, for no good reason at all, since I wasn't manning the door. Notice how I'm holding that bowl? I didn't give out a single piece of candy. All MINE.

I also wore the tiara on a dog walk in the afternoon because when else can you wear a tiara with your dirty old stinky parka, the one with the pockets stuffed with poop bags on the left & treat bags on the right?

Hello! I'm the Cranky Fairy & I need a haircut!
Touch my candy & I'll unleash the dogs.

(sorry for the blur. Roo was taking photos & I think he was on a sugar high. He didn't dress up as anything, unless you think dressing up as the handyman whose bathroom reno has dragged on for a YEAR is scary. Actually it is. EEEEEEEEKKK!!!! Never-ending home reno man!!!!! Run! Hide!)

Happy Halloween, everyone!!
