This is how the kitchen looked in the original realtor's listing photos.
Maybe this is a sign of the insanity of the market here because when you see this in a house priced over 500K, you think, hmmm, that's quite good! An 80's kitchen! Wow, it was updated in the last quarter century? It doesn't look like it was used as a grow op or a boarding house for 60 students from Guangzhou? Let's buy it.

I can't wait to see the "after" pics. We are near the tail end of our own kitchen reno - also sucked in by Ikea's kitchen sale event - they are no longer my favorite store but that is a very long story. Hope it all turns out well, like the pic of your son with the safety goggles - I have a similar one of my son with safety glasses where he is also holding a big hammer. I'm curious to know what cupboards you chose and how it all went for you.
