Good days

The sun came out today.

We went for a walk in a park by the Fraser River & saw a variety of birds. We followed the trail of chewed trees until we located a huge beaver den; tried to get a glimpse of the little lumberjack but no luck.

Played Pooh sticks on a sweet little bridge. Fabulous game. Hugo tried to get an advantage by sticking snowberries on the tips to make little pfd's for his sticks.

Went to the library and Hugo got out The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie the Pooh (because our Pooh books are in storage somewhere and anyway, we don't have the complete set).

Listened to a BBC audio dramatisation of The Box of Delights by John Masefield. Masefield was England's Poet Laureate. Great tale; had Hugo riveted and he has already asked to listen to it again later this week.

Took Hugo to swimming lessons and discovered on the way there that we didn't have a towel. The lessons are at the municipal recreation center which also has gym facilities and I thought I remembered something about towel rentals so I just decided to keep driving. Worst case scenario was that he would have to drip dry a bit & get his clothes wet on the drive home.

Turned out that not only do they rent towels, the lovely clerk said "Here Mom - you need a break. Happy early Valentine's Day" and didn't charge me the few bucks for the towel.

Good people. Good weather. Nature. Sunshine. Good stories. Good days.
