Poaching with secateurs

Too bad you can't photograph scents.
These treasures came from our neighbourhood. Years ago, there were large homes, gardens, orchards, even farms here. Those properties are gone, and the land has gone wild. It is slowly being transformed into townhouses, condominiums and large parks. Our neighborhood is called City in the Park and it is surrounded by parkland - much of it really wild parks, especially around Byrne Creek. It is intriguing to walk through these parks and come upon marks of old inhabitation - cornerstones, a row of apple trees, huge and intoxicating lilacs.

These beauties unfortunately are in an area slated for a townhome development and I don't think they'll be preserved. Too bad, as they're magnificent and well worth the scratches I got from the blackberry brambles. Posted by Hello
